Time to Renew Your Membership!

As a reminder, all Friends of Clapp Memorial Library Memberships expire as of 12/31...it's time to renew! And if you do so now, you won't have to worry about it before Monday's Friends' Night at the Spring Book Sale (March 26-31, 2012). (Monday, which is opening night of the semi-annual Book Sales, is always Friends' Night from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. It's a popular event for those who want to examine the thousands of newly-donated books.)

Sylvia Conkey has been a "Friend'" since the Friends of the Clapp Memorial Library was formed in 1977.
Sylvia's greatest pleasure is reading, and the Library has always been so important to her. You may have met Sylvia at one of the Friends' many Book Sale...she always volunteered as a cashier.
While she knows the economy won't support it at this time, Sylvia strongly feels that we need more Library space. "It is time," she says and she hopes to live to see a new Library space.
Florence Savings Bank Community Grants Program

Every year, Florence Savings Bank (FSB) helps local communities by awarding grants to non-profits around the Pioneer Valley.
Last year, FSB generously gave $1,000 to the Friends of Clapp Memorial Library (this was our 3rd time receiving a grant). Through its Customers' Choice Community Grants, FSB donated $50,000 to 32+ local nonprofit organizations. We received 85 votes, and we are very thankful to FSB for its support, as well as to the customers who voted for the Friends!
The Community Grants program allows FSB customers to vote for their favorite group. This year's voting will end on December 31, so if you have any type of account at Florence Savings Bank, you can cast your vote for the Friends of Clapp Memorial Library. You can:
- Fill-out FSB's Customers' Choice Community Grants secure form online;
or
- Visit the Library and complete a paper ballot at the main desk;
or
- Go to your nearest FSB location, and let them know you want to help the Friends of Clapp Memorial Library.
Together, in an instant, we can make a huge difference for our Library, while Clapp Memorial Library continues to generate a positive impact in Belchertown every day.

Fall Book Sale 2011

The Fall 2011 Book Sale is behind us, and we're happy to report it was very successful!
We thank all the volunteers who gave time, as well as all who donated books. And of course, thanks to all those who attended the Book Sale and bought books!!
