Congratulations to Donna Robbins who guessed the closest number of candies in the Candy Jar at the Library! The Candy Jar has been a regular contest for several years...the Friends fill the jar with candy (after counting every piece) and then visitors to the Library can make guesses as to how many pieces there are. This year there were 1,830 pieces!

The Friends would like to extend a special *thank you* to Denise Smith for coordinating, counting and preparing the Candy Jar!

September 2009: Another successful Belchertown Fair...the weather was great (for the most part), and people were Dancing with the Steers! Nick and Sign

The Friends' Parade float was a huge hit and won the Red Willey ribbon!

The Bum Steers played fantastic music, the Dancing Steers danced with such energy, and so many people showed up to walk with the float.

We extend a special thank you to Denise Smith for her creativity and dedication, and to all the volunteers for their support!

Did you check out the Fair booth to see what our "all-new, super-fantastic surprise" item is? If you didn't, see if you can figure it out by this photo:

The answer: Puzzles!

672-piece puzzles featuring Les Campbell's beautiful photograph of Clapp Memorial Library. Get yours now, while supplies last. We will be selling them at the Fall Book Sale (October 12-17).

We want to thank ALL the volunteers who helped out this weekend! The Booth was staffed by so many wonderful Friends.

Special thanks go to Lisa Aiken and Polly Lindhult for decorating the booth, and Polly for coordinating the volunteers! Lisa came up with the "puzzle theme," and was fortunate to have a couple of Library Junior Volunteers help her make some of the decorations.

The End! (Not really...there's so much more to do...)

May 2009: As you may have heard, the first annual Friends' Community Tag Sale was a big success this past May! Money was being made...items were moving...people were having fun!

We plan to do it again next May, same place. Spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to start looking for reservation information in late Winter-early Spring.
