Party Coordinators Needed!
The Summer Reading Program is a statewide program that encourages kids to read (and be read to) throughout the summer. Typically the program has a kick-off in June (run by Children's Librarian Jennifer Whitehead), with a celebration scheduled during the second week of August for all children who complete the program successfully (read for at least 8 hours and complete a short book report or review).
Many of the duties of the volunteer Coordinator(s) center around the program-ending celebration in August, and include:
The Friends of Clapp Memorial Library provide financial support for this party, so there won't be any soliciting of donations necessary. It would be optimal if the new Coordinators started in April/May.
If you are interested in learning more about the positions, please contact the Friends ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or call the library at (413) 323-0417.

We hope you enjoy navigating through our many menus. You can find a calendar of what's happening under Events, check out a partial list of books available in our Book Sale, find out what the Friends have provided to the Library, find out programs that we fund at the Library including museum passes.
These are just a few of the things now available on the website. You can also become a Fan of the Friends on Facebook or follow @ClappLibrary on Twitter. Stay tuned...we have more planned!
